had a fun time at school for the cny celebrations... ivan and i played for the concert, me on soprano sax and him on piano. we played a self-arranged mix of 'gong xi gong xi' and 'what a wonderful world'.
i tell you... i was so tempted to go see the doctor and get an MC lor. throat was hurting like hell, as if it's burning when i woke up. oh well, went ahead anyway and had quite a bit of fun. as ivan and i were saying after that, the performer high is definitely worth it, what with such an enthusiastic and crazy audience as the students.
and making use of the momentum from the performance, i mustered my guts to go see the P in her office after that. she's given her blessings for the japan trip, just that i'll have to take no-pay leave. good enough still, and now i can happily commit fully to the concert.
just in case i haven't said it here, philwinds has been invited to represent singapore at the japan band clinic 2009, and i'm going! (and of course, so's shu!) =p
ok, chinese new year's coming up. just had a couple of nights of long shopping trips this week with my mum. shu came along for today's, and we only managed to leave giant (the giant giant at tampines) around 11.40pm. it's crazy -- there weren't enough trolleys when we reached! had to queue at least 45 minutes before we managed to pay at the cashier's. i must say it's pretty heartwarming, and yet disturbing, when i see shu come along with my mum and i to do cny shopping, and my own sister is nowhere in sight. let's hope she really matures soon and pulls her weight to help the family out soon.
